Developmental Academy 7U/8U - Developmental Soccer
General Program Information: Parent coaches facilitate sessions 2x/week for a 7 week season. Players learn new skills as they discover soccer as a fun and exciting sport. Saturday game days (9am-12pm) and an end of season Jamboree provide opportunities to put skills to the test in game situations. Games are 4v4 or 5v5 and do not include goalkeepers.
Location Options (please indicate your location preference during registration):
- Aspen: Rio Grande or Snowmass Rec Center (Aspen-based teams will practice at Crown Mountain Park when weather or fields conditions prohibit play in Aspen or Snowmass)
- Basalt: Crown Mountain Park
- Carbondale: Crystal River Elementary School
- Glenwood: Sullivan Park or Glenwood Springs Elementary School
Duration: 2 training sessions per week for 7 weeks per season. Games are on Saturdays mornings and will be played at Crown Mountain Park, Crystal River Elementary School, or Sullivan Park; make up or rescheduled game may be scheduled on Sundays or weekdays at the coach's discretion.
Season Dates:
Fall sessions will begin the first week in September; games begin the second week of September; end of season Jamboree is October 21, 2023.
Spring sessions will begin the first week in April; end of season Jamboree is May 18, 2024.
Team Formation: Boys and girls are combined into coed teams in the 7U and 8U age groups.
Team Size: Teams consist of 10-12 players.
- Rosters at this age group are created based on birth year as well as preferences for location, time, coach, and/or teammates. All preferences can be indicated during registration.
- 2016 birth years will register to 8u age group; 2017 birth years will register to the 7u age group. Players from different age groups may be combined into one team if necessary and where appropriate.
- We cannot guarantee all requests, but will certainly attempt to grant them as long as a player's registration has been submitted before the published deadline.
Practice Days/Times: M/W or T/Th (2x/week) for 1hr sessions; practice days and time are determined by the coach (or coaches) based on their availability.
- Please indicate any preference for practice days (M/W or T/TH) when registering.
- Please indicate any preference for practice time (early = start before 5pm or late = start at or after 5pm) when regisgtering.
- When groups are created, players will be placed in a group with a schedule that best matches the preferences indicated by the player during registration.
This program is made possible by community members who volunteer coach each season. If you would like to be involved with coaching this age-group, please consider registering as a coach or assistant coach. We offer free coach training sessions and provide weekly curriculum.
8U Registration Cost: Seasonal - (Fall OR Spring) - $190
Both Seasons (Fall AND Spring) - $340 (please note the $40 discount if you registering for both seasons at the same time; you will have the opportunity to add your spring registration onto this order before you checkout)
Late Fee: Registrations completed after 8/18/2023 will be assessed a $25 late fee.
Dues include: Team shirt, secondary player insurance, coaching fees, administrative fees, equipment, field rental, field lining, weekly games, and the end of the season jamboree.
Programs do not include:
- Additional individual training sessions (please see additional training tab for those options)
- Camps/Clinics
- Indoor training and/or leagues
- Misc. costs such as coach gifts, team parties, a team bench, flags, tents, and/or similar items that are normally purchased for a team.
Waitlists: If programs are full, please register to the waitlist so that we understand the level of interest in each program and can do our best to create additional teams or find another suitable placement for your player.
**If there is a waitlist for the team that you prefer, please consider volunteering to coach that group. Not only is coaching the best way to get your player off the waitlist and onto a roster, you will also receive reimbursement for a full player registration fee and a stipend at the end of the season as compensation for your time and effort.**
Weather Cancellations (RFU Weather Policies): Each team coach is the directly responsible person for the safety of the group of players they have care over and must act accordingly in adverse weather conditions to protect every player from harm. If weather is a concern for game or practice time, check TeamSnap or contact your coach. There can be no reimbursements for games or practices canceled due to weather, acts of God, or forfeits by opposing teams.
Roaring Fork United does not offer refunds, credits, or fee transfers for the program with the strict exception of the following situations:
- If Roaring Fork United is unable to place your player on a team, a full refund will be offered. However, we do not guarantee the program, or the team requested.
- Family relocation. Roaring Fork United may offer a refund if the relocation takes place prior to any team practice for the season. Should the relocation occur during the season, Roaring Fork United has the right to pro-rate the players registration based on the amount of time the player played.
- Player injury. Roaring Fork United may offer a refund if the injury occurs prior to any team practice for the season. Should the injury occur during the season, Roaring Fork United has the right to pro-rate the players registration based on the amount of time the player played. Registration can also be credited to the following season.
- Player drops from the program. Roaring Fork United may offer a refund PRIOR to the start of season and with an approved reason. Should the player drop occur during the season, Roaring Fork United has the right to pro-rate the players registration based on the amount of time the player played.
- Force Majeure: Roaring Fork United shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the performance of its duties or return of fees under this agreement to extent that such a failure or delay is caused by an event or circumstance beyond its reasonable control including, but not limited to weather, inability to conduct soccer activities at an appropriate soccer facility, forfeit from the opposition, acts of God, acts of war, government action, act of terrorism, epidemic, pandemic, natural disaster, or lock outs, civil disorder or other major upheaval. In such event, Roaring Fork United's duties and obligations under this agreement may be suspended and fees retained. In addition, Roaring Fork United may alter its season or calendar or provide alternative means of coaching or other soccer related services in its sole discretion.
While we will make an attempt, when possible, to place your player on a team to accommodate your schedule, refunds are not available due to scheduling conflicts.
*Late payments and payment plan fees are non-refundable.
Roaring Fork United has the right to amend the Refund Policy at any time.
