CSA Mountain Region League Programs (MRL)

General Information - Our Intermediate Program is the CSA (Colorado Soccer Association) Mountain Region League Program. This program includes competition outside of the Roaring Fork Valley against other Mountain Region Clubs and teams. Mountain Region clubs are typically small in numbers so teams in this division will be combined age groups. For example, 12U will include both 12U and 11U players on one team. For many players in the Mountain region, especially in the younger age levels, this is the first time to experience games and travel outside of the Roaring Fork Valley. Mountain Region clubs typically are all west of the continental divide but can range from New Castle, Grand Junction, Moab, Montrose, and possibly all the way to Durango. Not every club in Mountain Region has teams in every age bracket, so where your team will travel to is not determined until clubs register their teams. Each team will play 4 games at home and 4 games at Mountain Region clubs. For more information on CSA Mountain Region click here.

FAQ: Why is there not a 12u option for players in Aspen?

The weather in Aspen consistently presents challenges to teams getting on fields at the end of the fall season and throughout most of the spring season.

Older teams need to be training outdoors on an appropriately sized fields during the season to participate in a league. It is important for 11u/12u teams to play on fields that are big enough to facilitate 9v9 games. The fields at Rio Grande are 10u fields, made for facilitating 7v7 games; the priority for these fields goes to the 10u, 8u, and 6u Aspen-based teams. Snowmass Rec also does not offer a 12u sized field. RF United does have access to 12u fields at Crown Mountain Park.

Because of the challenges with the weather and lack of access to a 12u field in Aspen, RF United is unable to provide an Aspen-based option for players in age groups older than 10u. It is simply impossible to provide appropriate fields in Aspen for teams of those ages throughout both the fall and spring seasons on a schedule that allows them to participate in league play.

Waitlists

Coaches are a valuable commodity! Each Roaring Fork United team is dependent upon a parent or community member to step into the role of Coach every season. The number of teams RF United is able to offer each season is directly dependent upon the number of Coaches and players we are able to recruit.

If there is a waitlist for the team or schedule that you prefer, please consider volunteering to coach that group. Not only is coaching the best way to get your player off the waitlist and onto a roster, you will also receive reimbursement for a full player registration fee and a stipend at the end of the season as compensation for your time and effort.

All coaches will have access to curriculum for each session and will receive on-field support from Lead Trainers and the Academy Director.
